TREE chair for two

In an effort to breathe new life into a forgotten home, this sculptural seating was constructed out of remnants of a hundred-year-old pink Victorian after it was abandoned by its former owners. Chairs and weathered wood were salvaged from the house’s dilapidated rooms, each element carrying stories of a once vibrant home.  Fallen branches were used from the magnificent Japanese Magnolia tree planted by the previous homeowners. The disparate elements melded into a whole, forming a bench that bridged the gap between past and future. Upholstery fabric was created using a UV reactive cyanotype of the branches. The intention was to interweave memories of the past with a vision of renewal, breathing purpose into forgotten materials and envisioning a brighter future for a home that was once left behind.
