SHROOM
Crafted from the remnants of a walnut tree that succumbed to the drought of 2015 in California's Central Valley, Shroom pays homage to the regenerative power of mushrooms within the natural growth cycle. Several trees were harvested and made into sculptural works by a group of 23 artists curated by Kyle DeWoody for the Totum show. The project culminated in a return of the sculptures back to the land and a gallery exhibition for Frieze LA 2022. The show’s title, Totum, means “the whole and all,” emphasizing the idea of interrelatedness.
